Yiaga Africa is a non-profit civic hub of change-makers committed to promoting democratic governance, human rights and civic engagement. With its operational base in Abuja, Nigeria, Yiaga Africa focuses on in-depth research, critically analyzing critical democratic and governance issues, crafting practical solutions, and training and empowering citizens to lead change in their community. Yiaga Africa implements several innovative programs to stimulate active citizenship, protect human rights and deepen democratic governance. We invest in building networks and social movements to drive social change and transformation. Yiaga Africa has leadership structures and members in all 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas (LGA) of Nigeria.

Job Description:

As an intern at Yiaga Africa, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to meaningful projects and initiatives within your designated department. Key responsibilities include:

– Assisting in day-to-day operations and tasks within the assigned department.

– Conducting research and analysis to support ongoing projects.

– Collaborating with team members to achieve departmental goals.

– Providing administrative support as needed.

– Attending meetings and workshops to enhance your understanding of the organization’s mission and objectives.

– Other assigned duties to support departmental requirements.

Skills and Minimum Qualifications:

– Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

– Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

– Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Additional Skills (Department-specific):

1. Finance Intern:

   – Basic understanding of financial principles.

   – Ability to assist in budgeting and financial analysis.

2. Africa Division Intern:

   – Knowledge of African political and social issues.

   – Strong research and analytical skills.

3. HR & Administration Intern:

   – Interest in human resources management and organizational development.

   – Familiarity with administrative processes.

4.  Media & Communication Intern:

   – Strong writing and editing skills.

   – Knowledge of social media platforms and content creation.

5.  Centre for Legislative Engagements Intern:

   – Interest in legislative processes and governance.

   – Ability to conduct legislative research.
