On September 21, 2024, Edo State will go to the polls to elect its next governor and Yiaga Africa has trained and deployed its Election Observation team to oversee the process. Major political parties have intensified their campaigns across various local government areas, each striving to win the people’s votes. Despite the backdrop of economic hardships, security issues, and declining public confidence, the political and security situation remains tense and unpredictable. We present our Pre-Election Observation Statement on this crucial election, which is a pivotal moment for upholding the democratic principle of regular elections at all levels of government.
