POSITION: Senior Programme Officer, Yiaga Africa – Centre for Legislative Engagement
Yetunde Bakare is a resourceful and results-driven civil society actor who believes in the limitless possibilities of a government with youth participation. As the Senior Program Officer at Yiaga Africa Centre for Legislative Engagement (Yiaga Africa – CLE), she provides support for strengthening democratic institutions and the sustainability of democratic governance in Nigeria and Ghana by relating with their lawmakers.
She has a wide spectrum of interests including democratic governance, women’s rights, institutional strengthening, constituent’s relation, digitalization of elections and politics, cyber security, and media productions.
Prior to joining Yiaga Africa, Yetunde worked at the advertising agency Noah’s Ark Communications as a brand executive managing high-profile brands such as Indomie Noodles, Hypo and Paga.
Yetunde holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the University of Jos, a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos and a Certificate in the Management of Democratic Elections in Africa from the University of South Africa. She is also an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Yetunde has participated actively in various advocacy campaigns including the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign and the State of Emergency on Sexual Gender- Based Violence (#StateofEmergencySGBV). She is also a member of the Strategy Team of the NotTooYoungToRun Movement , whose campaign led to a constitutional amendment to reduce the age for running for elective office in Nigeria.
Yetunde is married, and a proud mum of two daughters.
