This week, Nigeria’s democratic scene had its fair share of drama. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) welcomed a new Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, who steps into office with the task of rebuilding trust in Nigeria’s electoral process, and perhaps, its Wi-Fi connection too.
Meanwhile, the Commission announced that over 6.8 million Nigerians have registered in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. In the Federal Capital Territory, the CVR exercise has been extended by four days due to an overwhelming response from residents eager to register. INEC says the extension aims to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out.
