POSITION: Programme Officer Elections
Opeyemi Haruna has over five years’ experience in elections and election observation across the country, and in managing monitoring and evaluation exercises to ensure programs meet scope, timeline, and budget.. She is an adept Program Management Professional with relevant experience in designing, planning, and executing development programs which drive social consciousness, contribute to public awareness, and encourage good governance.
At Yiaga Africa, Opeyemi has coordinated team members as well as ad hoc staff to perform tasks or group projects; strategically maintained and built healthy stakeholder relationships. She has also trained, empowered, and built the capacity of over 3000 citizen observers in Nigeria on election observation, including marginalized groups (youth, women, and Persons with Disability). Her work has contributed to increasing citizen’s participation in the electoral process, provided strategic technical support to an array of election stakeholders, and has helped to promote electoral integrity and transparency in local, national, and regional elections.
Opeyemi was born in Bauchi, Bauchi State and received her primary and secondary school education in Lagos State. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon.
