Background
In our vision to be the Yiaga Africa of the future, we seek to hire a creative and experienced candidate with an excellent internal audit background and exceptional compliance monitoring skills to join our team.
The incumbent of this role will be expected to support management on strategic compliance issues and assist in risk analysis and management.
They will ensure compliance with international/ local policies and procedures, strengthen financial integrity through recommendations for improving systems, controls, and processes, and reduce fraud and errors through internal auditing and executing audit committee decisions.
They will manage the internal audit team and supervise internal audit team members to ensure mechanisms are in place in the organizational policy, practices, and structures.

The position is for One year, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The post holder would be expected to work 40 hours a week. The position has a competitive salary as obtainable in the industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of an Internal Audit Plan covering maximum risk areas.
- Regularly conduct an internal audit of Yiaga Africa’s events & report on the adequacy of the controls' adequacy to optimize the economic and efficient use of the organization’s resources.
- Perform objective risk-based examinations and evaluations of the internal controls in operation and financial management processes.
- Review the internal control system of the organization and suggest its necessary improvement.
- Finalizing audit report with management responses.
- Attend training/workshops on audit & finance-related events to gain knowledge to implement new ideas, techniques, and tools.
- Arrange appropriate training for the team members as well for their capacity development.
- Gathered knowledge on updated internal audit procedures and shared them with team members.
- Prepare and send half-yearly internal audit reports of Yiaga Africa’s activities.
- Ensure that Yiaga Africa’s internal audit processes are compliant with donor requirements.
- Provide full cooperation with the external audit team and other relevant issues required by them.
- Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding the sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
- Periodically carry out Fraud Awareness and Preventing staff training.
- To perform any other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience
The candidate must possess the following:
- A University degree in accounting or its recognized equivalent.
- Must have professional certifications such as ACCA.
- At least eight years post-NYSC experience with at least five years of NGO Managerial experience working on International donor-funded projects.
- Working knowledge of EU, FCDO, and NED audit rules and regulations.
- Hands-on experience working with the statutory bodies – NSITF, FIRS, State IRS, specifically FCT IRS, NHF, PENCOM, etc.
- Must be very strong in audit report writing.
- Must have experience writing quarterly audit reports to the board.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent experience with financial systems and software such as quick books.
- Excellent communication skills Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Hausa and French language will be a plus.
