In less than 150 days, Nigeria, the most populous black nation on earth, with a population of over 200 million will conduct the biggest and most expensive elections in the entire African continent with over 90 million registered voters.
The general election of 2023 will mark the seventh democratic election held in Nigeria since the country's return to democracy. In the history of Nigeria, this is the longest stretch of democratic rule.
Despite Lagos State having the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria, it had an overall voter turnout of just 35.6% and one of the lowest youth voter turnouts in the country in the 2019 elections.
