Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, a generation is rising, bold, connected, and unyielding in its demand for dignity, accountability, and justice. From Kenya’s Gen Z tax protests to Nigeria’s #EndSARS and Chile’s student uprisings, young people are redefining democratic engagement and building new spaces for collective power.
Yiaga Africa is proud to announce the South–South Social Movements Convergence, a groundbreaking gathering of activists, organizers, and thinkers from across the Global South. The convergence will take place from 30th October – 1st November, 2025 in South Africa, bringing together movements that are rewriting the story of democracy from the ground up.
This convening will connect struggles, share lessons, and co-create strategies for resilience and solidarity. Participants will explore how social media, AI, and digital tools are transforming activism, while addressing the emotional and structural challenges of sustaining movements. Together, they will build frameworks for care, collaboration, and cross-border solidarity that extend beyond protest moments.
